Internal hemorrhoids are generally located at the upper part of the anal canal which we could not see or touch. The most common symptom of this type is bleeding. This usually is the only symptom that one notices in mild cases of internal hemorrhoids. Aside from this, bleeding can also happen in cases like anal fissures and with external hemorrhoids. In anal fissures, it occurs when one is passing stool. On the other hand, with external ones, it happens when the case becomes more severe.
Usually the internal ones bleed when it is scratched because of the passing of the stool. You might notice the blood in the toilet bowl, or on the toilet paper and sometimes even around the stool. In rare cases, this problem becomes severe that the patient will become iron deficient or otherwise known as being anemic. However, in most of the cases it is only a very little amount or none at all. One should note that the color is usually bright red and if the color is darker, it means it occurs further up the anal canal and might not even because of this condition. It is important to consult a doctor when you notice irregular bleeding or when you see blood in your stool. This is because there are other diseases that have similar symptoms but are far worse than just hemorrhoids. Digestive diseases such as colorectal cancer, gastrointestinal problems are just some of the examples. Therefore, it is important to have a proper diagnosis to get the right treatment.
