Hemorrhoidectomy For Thrombosed Hemorrhoid Treatment

External hemorrhoids need some time to develop. They generally develop if there is strain on the rectum veins while passing stool, during pregnancy, having long journeys by road, prolonged sitting, diarrhoea, or constipation. External hemorrhoids refers to swollen vascular tissue present in the anal canal distal (on the outer side) up to the dentate line. Dentate line is the area where rectal mucosa meets with the anoderm (anal canal’s skin). Perianal skin is fully covered with pain fibres and external hemorrhoids are richly covered with pereinal skin and anoderm. Diseases which directly affect the anal canal or even the hemorrhoidal vessels can create intolerable pain.

It is usually young healthy people who experience external hemorrhoids that can suddenly develop as thrombosed hemorrhoids. It takes several weeks for the thrombosis to get absorbed in the body and sometimes, resolving thrombosis can tear off the skin producing bleeding. Actually, there is hemorrhoidectomy, a surgical thrombosed hemorrhoid treatment. Through this surgical procedure, the hemorrhoids are removed within 72 hours of their occurrence. If the surgery is performed after this period, the procedure may add to more discomfort and more pain. Although the surgery is very inconvenient, many people prefer this procedure without considering that even without surgery hemorrhoids will ultimately turn into fibrosed and fade away within two to three weeks.

With the help of an elliptic cut, the clot and the entire hemorrhoid can be easily removed. Although there is no harm in leaving the cut open, many doctors place subcutaneous sutures on the wound to stop the bleeding and pain. In other thrombosed hemorrhoid treatments, local anesthesia is given at the affected area and the clot is removed using simple incision but in this procedure there are chances of reoccurrence of the thrombosis. Today, most experts recommend removing the entire thrombosis and also the vessels beneath where external hemorrhoids develop. This thrombosed hemorrhoid treatment takes more time but offers better results.
