Hemorrhoids are one of the most common health complaints – it is estimated that up to half the population will suffer with them at some point in their life. There are two types of hemorrhoids – internal and external, of which internal are the most common.
Internal and external hemorrhoids differ based on where they originate – internal hemorrhoids originate approximately 1 inch inside the back passage, whereas external hemorrhoids originate around the edge of the entrance to the anus.
So what are the internal hemorrhoids symptoms?
If you have any of the above symptoms there is a good chance that you have internal hemorrhoids. The first thing to point out is that you shouldn’t worry – hemorrhoids are not life threatening, although they can affect your quality of life. One note of caution though – please see your doctor if you are losing weight, if your bowel movements have changed recently, or if you see dark red blood mixed in with your stools. This is just to rule out a more serious condition such as colon cancer.
