Myths About What Causes Hemorrhoids That You Shouldn’t Believe

Hemorrhoids are something that many people deal with at one point in their adult life. These are very uncomfortable and something that most people don’t want to have happen to them again. There are a variety of myths about how these are formed that you don’t need to believe in.

The first myth is that only people who are unhealthy in some way get hemorrhoid problems. While this does sound reasonable, it’s actually not true at all. About half of adults get a hemorrhoid at some point in time and it doesn’t have anything to do with getting sick. Many people in great shape get these problems because they can be formed when doing something like lifting heavy boxes or weights. It’s likely that those who are very active will get this more often since there can be extra stress put on the body. There are also genetic factors that make one prone to having these problems more often.

One myth that is still believed by many is that you get hemorrhoids when you sit on very cold or very hot surfaces. This is why many people will avoid doing things like sitting down on the sidewalk. The reality is that the temperature of a surface has nothing to do with whether you will get hemorrhoids or not. At times sitting on hard uncomfortable surfaces will help cause hemorrhoids but the heat or cool of it doesn’t matter.

Some believe that diet has nothing to do with a hemorrhoid problem. Nothing can be further from the truth. Many times constipation is something that is the leading cause of hemorrhoid issues for many people. Constipation is caused by having a poor diet that your system is not handling properly. Getting more fiber in your diet will make things better for you if you are suffering from this problem as it will cut back on constipation quite a bit.
