What Do Hemorrhoids Look Like – Find Out What Those Terrible Lumpy Looking Things Are

Having a hemorrhoid is one of the most painful and embarrassing thing to experience and talk about. I am sure you often wonder to yourself what do hemorrhoids look like?

Hemorrhoids are swollen veins that are found in the rectum or anus. They are as a result of pressure from heavy lifting, pregnancy, constipation, diarrhea and other factors such as long periods of standing and sitting.
Hemorrhoids can only be found in the rectum based on the fact that the bowels need to contract and expand and as a result the veins in this area are rather stretchable. No other part of the body can stretch like that when filled with blood

Anxious to know what hemorrhoids look like?

Well think of it as the weakest part of an already weakened blood vessel. These blood vessels become very weak due to the amount of pressure forced on them when you overstrain while passing bowel movement. When the veins are stretched to the limit they don’t often return to normal and thus causes hemorrhoids to develop.

Hemorrhoids are often seen as a tiny lump like grapes growing from the anus. The size, shape and the number often differs from person to person. Hemorrhoids also exist in two forms. The internal and the external hemorrhoids.

Internal Hemorrhoids

As the name suggests internal hemorrhoids occurs when the veins are in the anus and as a result they are not visible. Some people may experience bleeding but this is not painful. At times when the hemorrhoids are swollen to the point where they cannot stay inside and are disturbed by straining then they will hang outside where you can feel and see them. These are usually light red in color.

External hemorrhoids

External hemorrhoids are where the veins that are engorged hang outside of the anus rather than the inside. They often feel like little bleeding lumps underneath the skin. They will not just be poking out from the anus but will be found at the rim of the anus. Based on where they are located they are easily irritated and are often brownish in color.

Thrombosed Hemorrhoids

Are those hemorrhoids that are so painful because the actual hemorrhoid itself has a blood clot inside of it. People often say these are non-malignant tumors. But hearing the word tumor alone will send anyone into a panic stage. These forms of hemorrhoids need to be checked out as soon as possible by a doctor so that treatment can begin before the pain worsens.

Hemorrhoids can be very painful and uncomfortable and very embarrassing to even the most outspoken, sociable individual. However do not despair as there are ways to get rid of this terrible illness without too much trouble.
